Kangro Energy takes its name from an early pioneer of the redox flow battery concept.
Walther Kangro and the Beginning of the RFB Idea
Peer-reviewed historical literature traces the first battery type resembling today's redox flow battery to Walther Kangro's 1949 patent. His concept used redox-active materials dissolved in liquid electrolyte and established the basic idea of storing electrochemical energy in circulating fluids.
For that reason, the name Kangro Energy recognizes the origin of the flow-battery concept while looking forward to new aqueous chemistries, materials and system architectures.
